Tomah Municipal Court
Municipal Court is held at the City
Hall at 819 Superior Avenue. Court is held every Wednesday of the
month at 2:00 PM. Trials are scheduled for the last Wednesday of
the month, with initial appearances for the other Wednesdays. If
you were issued a citation, your citation will either be marked
"appearance required" or "appearance NOT required". If your
citation is marked "appearance NOT required", you do not have to attend
court, however you must either pay the fine prior to the court date or
notify the court you wish to plead not guilty and have a trial date set.
If you fail to pay or appear you will be found guilty by default, and a
warrant will be issued and/or your license to drive will be suspended.

*NOTICE*
If you have an outstanding fine(s) owed to the Municipal Court, you
could be subject to suspension of your driver's license. In
addition, the court does issue ARREST WARRANTS for outstanding fines.
The City also has the authority to have past due amounts withheld from
any State Tax refund check that you may having coming to you.

Question:
What do I do when I see a school bus with the warning lights activated?
Answer:
The operator of a vehicle which
approaches from the front or rear any school bus which has stopped on a
street or highway when the bus is equipped according to s. 347.25 (2)
and when it is displaying flashing red warning lights, shall stop the
vehicle not less than 20 feet from the bus and shall remain stopped
until the bus resumes motion or the operator extinguishes the flashing
red warning lights. The operator of any school bus which approaches from
the front or rear any school bus which has stopped and is displaying
flashing red warning lights shall display its flashing red lights while
stopped. This subsection does not apply to operators of vehicles
proceeding in the opposite direction on a divided highway. The stop sign
of the bus does not need to be extended. Passing the bus with flashing
red lights on may result in a citation.
