Summary of Incident:
On January 29, 2009, the Tomah Police Department received numerous
complaints of Fraud in which an automated recording identified
themselves as The Tomah Area Credit Union. The recording indicated
that there was a compromise with the person's Visa Credit Card and
then asked for the cardholder's credit card number and three forms
of identification. The phone calls are being placed to random
residences and the Tomah Police are unable to determine where the
calls are coming from. The Tomah Area Credit Union verified that
they had not made these phone calls.
Citizens should not give any of this type of information over the
phone and if you receive this type of call, report it to the Tomah
Police Department.
